Cool Colors.

For the cool colors assignment i decided to break my three pictures up into three colors. One purple, one blue, and one white. Each of them contain a different element and give the effect that each picture represents it's own color.

Lighting

This is my first light photograph. I put the light behind my model so that the only thing that would show up in the lighting is the outline of her profile. I like the way it turned out because it's different. It's almost like a trick photograph because when you take a quick glance you think that it's just a streak of light on a long exposure, but after you look at it closely you start to see that there is a figure behind it.

This is my second light photograph. I held the spotlight on the left side of my model so that it would only highlight half of her face. I felt that this would create a dramatic effect and also add alot of contrast. I dodged and burned her eye to make it the focal point of the piece. I like the way it turned out because i like the overall tone of the photograph and i like that it's only focused on her face.

This is my third light image. I placed a spotlight directly under my model and made certain shadows and highlights on her face. I had her wear really dramatic makeup. Since it didn't show up very well in the actual photograph i dodged her eyes in photoshop so i could add more brightness. I like the way it turned out because it almost looks like there's a fire under her.

Greek Myth: Cyclops

This is the picture i took for my Greek myth. This assignment was somewhat challenging for me because the initial idea i had for the project didn't work out the way i wanted it to. I was stuck trying to create a multiple person effect by doing a long exposure. I put my model in the basement and had everything dark except for a spotlight. I ended up turning on the light, then having him move while the light was off, and flicking it back on again. This made him appear four times but the thing that bothers me is that he isn't as clear in each one. I tried to fix this by using a different camera and changing the aperture and shutter speed a million times. I finally ended up with an image that worked okay, but i still don't think this is a good enough photograph. If i had to do it again i would just keep trying to change the amount of light, the shutter speed, and the aperture until i got it right.

SERIES: MONEY.

The inspiration for this assignment honestly came to me one night after shopping. I've been spending so much money lately and sometimes i don't realize the extent of it until after i've finished. I think that the idea for this was creative and i really like the way my photographs turned out. I think that the concept is really important and that lately with the economy alot more people need to start realizing how much money they're spending, and what they're spending it on.

NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY.

This is the first night photograph i took. I think this is really cool because it's almost like graffiti in the sky. I like how there are so many different colors, and how it was such a random shot. For this photo i changed the ISO speed to 400, and moved the camera in circles.

This is the second night photograph i took. I like it because i think it's simple yet intriguing. It's the only thing that lights up the black sky. To take this image I changed the ISO speed on my camera to 400 as well, and then just shook it around.

ARTIST EMULATION.

The artist i chose to emulate is Kerry Skarbakka. I tried to emulate him for digital as well but this time i want to try to take a different approach. He mostly takes photographs of people falling or doing dangerous things. He uses bungee cords but photoshops them out after so that he can make it look like it's actually happening. The work he does is nothing even close to cliche or ordinary. That is why i like him, and thats why i chose to try to emulate him again.

I haven't started my 365 yet because i'm waiting to get my new digital.

When that day happens, expect great things.
